PayPal Poemgrams

Project

Valentine's social and experiential campaign for PayPal.

Notes

For valentine’s day, Edelman Digital created a personalized gift-giving experience for PayPal customers, connecting people all over the world with poets, and showing that PayPal can be used to make payments anytime, not just online. To do this, we hired 12 poets to bring poetry to the people where they were at—online via live chat or offline at 5 pop-ups in San Francisco—giving them a unique offering for valentine’s. For the poets, we created a way for them to share their work with the world and in turn, be compensated for it. Furthermore, our customers were able to tip the poets via PayPal.

In the week leading up to valentine's day, 2049 poems were created online, 700+ poems were created offline and positive engagement on PayPal’s social channels doubled. On valentine’s day—the last day of Poemgrams—we sent an improv artist to surprise and read aloud the poem their loved ones had commissioned for them.
